Welcome to The Middle Path
Does life sometimes feel like too much? Does the idea of work/life balance seem unattainable?
It’s easy to feel like it will always be this hard and that you are stuck feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed or helpless. It’s not you! People often feel this way, not because they are broken or “crazy”, but because they HAVEN’T BEEN TAUGHT the skills necessary to approach life with confidence and competence. We are here to show you The Middle Path between acceptance and change and ultimately give you concrete tools and strategies to approach all that life throws at you.
We provide workshops for school districts, corporations, community-based organizations and the general public. These workshops are given in person and virtually. Join us in learning how to create a life that brings you joy and a deeper understanding of yourself.
The Middle Path is a mental and emotional wellness education program that provides educators with the skills needed to feel more in control of their lives. We make these skills universally accessible to all. Our goal is to remove barriers to ensure that teachers, frontline workers, mentors, and members of the community are building a solid toolbox of strategies and skills to recognize and regulate emotions, handle challenging situations constructively, manage stress, and communicate needs effectively. Supporting educators and schools districts in these ways leads to a healthier functioning schools and less teacher turnover.
This program includes the facilitation of workshops that are designed based on the needs of a district or school. The sessions are aligned to the five interrelated areas of competence highlighted by The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) below. These areas are:

- Self-Awareness
- Self-Management
- Responsible Decision Making
- Relationship Skills
- and Social
CASEL’s systemic implementation approach to Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) includes the teaching of these skills in classrooms, schools, districts with families and caregivers, and in communities (Collaborative for Academic, n.d.).
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) states “the term “Social-Emotional Learning” conveys the idea that Emotional and Social Wellness consists of skills that can be learned. Optimal development will occur when these skills are taught, modeled, practiced and reinforced. Ideally, SEL will be embedded within many content areas and will occur throughout the day.” These skills first need to be embodied by educators in ordered to be modeled and reinforced with students. (Colorado Academic Standards, 2020)

The Middle Path fills this gap.
Combining our knowledge of teaching and learning, public education systems, non-profit work, and mental health skills, we are provide high-quality trainings for educational institutions across the country.

Posted on Dan Piano Dr Jill led a training for our team of summer camp teachers and counselors in which we discussed a range of topics. We learned strategies for adults and children alike to better understand how to manage stressful environments and situations. She fostered self awareness and situational awareness while teaching us how to think through what is happening cognitively for ourselves and our children and how to deescalate conflicts. It was a wonderful evening. Thank you Dr Jill!Posted on Kirstyn Shaffer Jill’s trainings have been invaluable to my mental health while working with children. Her ideas and the skills she teaches are very helpful and I can implement them immediately in my work.Posted on Recreation and special events coordinator Dr Jill brings simple skills to life and provides a way to connect with myself and the children that I work with in a kind available way! Thank youPosted on Brittany Haddock Just amazing. Jill's dedication to the DBT modality shows and you would be hard-pressed to a better provider. I am so impressed with the effect this has had on my life and career. In just 4 sessions she was able to my a lasting impact on my outlook and ultimately my life.Posted on Drew Oden I’m so thankful for all the skills I learned from Jill and her DBT course. I was a little skeptical the first few classes but once I was willing to listen and accept the information, it was life changing!!! I highly recommend learning from Jill!Posted on michael seeley Jill is by far the most talented DBT clinician I have ever worked with.Posted on Ken Buck Dr. Jill Rubinstein is a highly skilled and experienced therapist. Her leadership in this field is a no-nonsense approach to leading by example and placing her mission first and people always! She’s one of those rare individuals that has been there, done that, got the T-Shirt, and helps others from deep within her heart with a caring, practical, and experiential approach! She focuses on you personally as an individual that has thoughts, feelings, and the ability to make choices to take action or not. THE BEST LESSON THAT DR. JILL TAUGHT ME WAS THAT, I OWN MY RECOVERY AND MY PROGRAM. It is unique to me, only me, and it can only be taken from me if I choose to surrender or cede to another individual’s control. Her clinical, yet common sense approach to problem solving and leveraging Marsha Linehan’s DBT techniques is therapeutic medicine that works! Dr. Jill helped me level out and manage my PTSD symptoms, where others, nor the VA, could help. Her love of the outdoors and the application of challenging, but non-threatening experiential therapy techniques provides a practical open-air classroom environment to become holistically healthy and heal the mind, body, and spirit! Her processes and therapeutic techniques allow one to experience the happiness, joy, peace, serenity, and the freedom of the mountains. There is nothing like putting DBT practices into play through artistic expression, meditation, self-care, and self-love on a mountaintop! I would highly recommend Dr. Jill’s magic to those who are troubled with trauma(s), and, especially Veteran’s. As I embark on my own practice, I am grateful for her help and will shamelessly apply many of her approaches to my own clientele.
